How to manage product dimensions when shipping Shopify products.

Managing Product Dimensions for Shipping Shopify Products
Updated on Tuesday, August 13, 2024

Many shipping providers today, such as Australia Post and Sendle, require merchants to provide not just the weight but also the dimensions of parcels, known as cubic dimensions. Unfortunately, this can be quite a hassle.

You need to supply the length, width, height, weight, and sometimes even details about the parcel's contents. While this is manageable when shipping a few orders, it becomes burdensome as your volume increases.

This is why we created Koi. Koi stores additional information about our products and variants that Shopify doesn’t capture. This includes product dimensions, HS tariff codes, country of origin, packed weight versus actual weight, and details about commonly used shipping materials.

By centralising all this information in Koi, we can seamlessly provide it to shipping carriers when creating shipments. For domestic shipments, this means we can automatically generate shipping labels with a single click. For international shipments, we can also automatically create the necessary customs paperwork.

Koi was created by merchants, for merchants. We run our own online stores, so we understand the daily challenges you face. Whether it’s dealing with Australia Post, opening inquiries for lost parcels, or managing inbound supplier orders and inventory, we’ve been there.

Koi is like a time machine for merchants, saving you valuable time. Try it today.
