Australia Post and StarTrack: Price Review and Technology Updates

Starting 1 July 2025, Australia Post and StarTrack are shifting their annual price review to align with the Australian financial year. Previously, StarTrack’s price review occurred in November, while Australia Post updated pricing based on contract anniversaries. Now, all reviews will take place in July each year. This change simplifies the pricing process for customers with open-ended agreements, though fixed-term contracts will still follow their anniversary dates. Merchants will continue to receive 30 days' notice of any price changes.

Koi's API integration simplifies compliance and automates updates, letting you focus on growing your business without the hassle of navigating these changes manually. If you're shipping in Australia, Koi ensures you’re always prepared for what's next.

Additionally, StarTrack is updating its Terms and Conditions and Business Credit Account Terms, effective from 30 October 2024. There are no new additional charges, but changes include the application of existing surcharges on dangerous goods consignments that require manual handling or exceed size limits. From 1 March 2025, merchants using StarTrack’s API channel must declare dimensions, along with weight and packaging, when lodging shipments. This brings the API in line with StarTrack's Parcel Send channel.

Key Changes:

  • Price Review: Moving to 1 July annually from 2025, affecting open-ended agreements.
  • StarTrack Terms Updates: New credit account terms from 30 October 2024, but no new charges.
  • Technology Updates: Surcharges for oversized or manually handled dangerous goods apply from 30 October 2024, and API users must declare dimensions from 1 March 2025.

Impact on Merchants:

  • Merchants with open-ended agreements will need to adapt to the new price review timeline.
  • Merchants handling dangerous goods may face surcharges for oversized or manually handled items.
  • API users must update their systems to declare dimensions starting March 2025.
